Are lesbians more accepted than gays reddit

I was watching a video on Youtube (link at bottom) about homosexuality in medieval ages, and they made a very good point as to why lesbians are accepted more today than gay men are. Back in the 's and 's laws were passed by the Catholic church concerning homosexuality.

As for why male gays aren't as accepted, I'm not sure. We know from studies that men are more likely to become aroused watching lesbians than women are watching gays. We also know from studies (that I lack source of) that straight women are more likely to become aroused by lesbians than straight men are by gays.
